Charles Dumont, the composer of the legendary song “Non, je ne regrette rien” that became one of the greatest hits by the unique performance of Edith Piaf, has died at the age of 95.
Charles Dumont, a French singer and composer, wrote songs for many famous artists like Dalida, Gloria Lasso, Luis Mariano and Tino Rossi. Charles Dumont with his lyricist partner Michel Vaucaire wrote also a song about the Berlin Wall, “Le mur” for Edith Piaf. Unfortunately, Piaf never had the chance to sing it because she died. The song “Le mur” was performed by Barbra Streisand and it was included in her album “Je m’appelle Barbra”.
Dumont’s last appearance on stage was in Paris in 2019.
