Two journalists and three cameraman from Al Jazeera were killed by Israeli fire in Gaza. The incident happened on Sunday (10/08) evening.
According to a statement, these are: Anas Al Sharif and Mohammeel Qraiqea, and cameraman Ibrahim Al Thaher, Moamen Aliwa and Mohamed Nofal. The five men were “targeted by a direct assault towards their tent where they were stationed”.
The network condemned the killings, noting that a total of 269 journalists have been killed since 2023.
An outpouring of grief and condemnation has followed the Israeli assassination of five Al Jazeera staff in Gaza, including prominent correspondent Anas al-Sharif.

Sharif’s last message
On April 6, journalist Anas Al Sharif stated the following in his message:
“This is my will and my final message. If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice. First, peace be upon you and Allah’s mercy and blessings.
Allah knows I gave every effort and all my strength to be a support and a voice for my people, ever since I opened my eyes to life in the alleys and streets of the Jabalia refugee camp. My hope was that Allah would extend my life so I could return with my family and loved ones to our original town of occupied Asqalan (Al-Majdal). But Allah’s will came first, and His decree is final. I have lived through pain in all its details, tasted suffering and loss many times, yet I never once hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification—so that Allah may bear witness against those who stayed silent, those who accepted our killing, those who choked our breath, and whose hearts were unmoved by the scattered remains of our children and women, doing nothing to stop the massacre that our people have faced for more than a year and a half.
I entrust you with Palestine—the jewel in the crown of the Muslim world, the heartbeat of every free person in this world. I entrust you with its people, with its wronged and innocent children who never had the time to dream or live in safety and peace. Their pure bodies were crushed under thousands of tons of Israeli bombs and missiles, torn apart and scattered across the walls.
I urge you not to let chains silence you, nor borders restrain you. Be bridges toward the liberation of the land and its people, until the sun of dignity and freedom rises over our stolen homeland. I entrust you to take care of my family. I entrust you with my beloved daughter Sham, the light of my eyes, whom I never got the chance to watch grow up as I had dreamed.
I entrust you with my dear son Salah, whom I had wished to support and accompany through life until he grew strong enough to carry my burden and continue the mission.
I entrust you with my beloved mother, whose blessed prayers brought me to where I am, whose supplications were my fortress and whose light guided my path. I pray that Allah grants her strength and rewards her on my behalf with the best of rewards.
I also entrust you with my lifelong companion, my beloved wife, Umm Salah (Bayan), from whom the war separated me for many long days and months. Yet she remained faithful to our bond, steadfast as the trunk of an olive tree that does not bend—patient, trusting in Allah, and carrying the responsibility in my absence with all her strength and faith.
I urge you to stand by them, to be their support after Allah Almighty. If I die, I die steadfast upon my principles. I testify before Allah that I am content with His decree, certain of meeting Him, and assured that what is with Allah is better and everlasting.
O Allah, accept me among the martyrs, forgive my past and future sins, and make my blood a light that illuminates the path of freedom for my people and my family. Forgive me if I have fallen short, and pray for me with mercy, for I kept my promise and never changed or betrayed it.
Do not forget Gaza… And do not forget me in your sincere prayers for forgiveness and acceptance.

Ο Αλλάχ γνωρίζει ότι κατέβαλα κάθε προσπάθεια και αφιέρωσα όλη μου τη δύναμη για να είμαι στήριγμα και φωνή για τον λαό μου, από τότε που άνοιξα τα μάτια μου στον κόσμο, στα σοκάκια του προσφυγικού καταυλισμού της Τζαμπάλια. Η ελπίδα μου ήταν ότι ο Αλλάχ θα μου χάριζε ζωή αρκετή ώστε να επιστρέψω με την οικογένειά μου και τους αγαπημένους μου στην πατρίδα μας, στην κατεχόμενη Ασκαλάν (Αλ-Ματζντάλ).
Ωστόσο με πρόλαβε το θέλημα του Αλλάχ και η απόφασή Του είναι οριστική. Έζησα τον πόνο σε όλες του τις εκφάνσεις, γεύτηκα τη δυστυχία και την απώλεια πολλές φορές, αλλά ποτέ δεν δίστασα να μεταφέρω την αλήθεια όπως είναι, χωρίς διαστρέβλωση ή παραποίηση – ώστε ο Αλλάχ να δώσει μαρτυρία ενάντια σε όσους έμειναν σιωπηλοί, όσους αποδέχτηκαν τη σφαγή μας, όσους έπνιξαν την ανάσα μας και δεν συγκινήθηκαν από τα διαμελισμένα σώματα των παιδιών και των γυναικών μας, χωρίς να κάνουν τίποτα για να σταματήσουν τη σφαγή που ο λαός μας υφίσταται εδώ και πάνω από ενάμιση χρόνο.
Σας εμπιστεύομαι την Παλαιστίνη – το διαμάντι στο στέμμα του μουσουλμανικού κόσμου, τον χτύπο της καρδιάς κάθε ελεύθερου ανθρώπου στη γη. Σας εμπιστεύομαι τον λαό της, τα αδικημένα και αθώα παιδιά της που δεν πρόλαβαν να ονειρευτούν ή να ζήσουν με ασφάλεια και ειρήνη. Τα αγνά τους σώματα συνθλίφτηκαν κάτω από χιλιάδες τόνους ισραηλινών βομβών και πυραύλων, κομματιάστηκαν και σκορπίστηκαν στους τοίχους.
Σας προτρέπω να μην αφήσετε τις αλυσίδες να σας φιμώσουν ούτε τα σύνορα να σας περιορίσουν. Γίνετε γέφυρες προς την απελευθέρωση της γης και του λαού της, μέχρι να ανατείλει ο ήλιος της αξιοπρέπειας και της ελευθερίας πάνω από την κλεμμένη μας πατρίδα. Σας εμπιστεύομαι να φροντίσετε την οικογένειά μου. Σας εμπιστεύομαι την αγαπημένη μου κόρη, τη Σαμ, το φως των ματιών μου, που δεν πρόλαβα να δω να μεγαλώνει όπως ονειρευόμουν.
Σας εμπιστεύομαι τον αγαπημένο μου γιο, τον Σάλαχ, τον οποίο ήθελα να στηρίξω και να συντροφεύσω στη ζωή, μέχρι να δυναμώσει αρκετά ώστε να σηκώσει το βάρος της αποστολής μου και να τη συνεχίσει.
Σας εμπιστεύομαι την αγαπημένη μου μητέρα, οι ευλογημένες προσευχές της οποίας με οδήγησαν εδώ. Οι δεήσεις της ήταν το καταφύγιό μου και το φως της μου έδειχνε τον δρόμο. Προσεύχομαι ο Αλλάχ να της δώσει δύναμη και να την ανταμείψει εκ μέρους μου με την καλύτερη ανταμοιβή.
Σας εμπιστεύομαι επίσης τη σύντροφο της ζωής μου, την αγαπημένη μου σύζυγο, Ουμ Σάλαχ (Μπαγιάν), από την οποία ο πόλεμος με χώρισε για πολλές μέρες και μήνες. Παρ’ όλα αυτά, έμεινε πιστή στον δεσμό μας, σταθερή σαν τον κορμό μιας ελιάς που δεν λυγίζει – έχοντας πάντοτε υπομονή, εμπιστοσύνη στον Αλλάχ και κουβαλώντας την ευθύνη κατά την απουσία μου με όλη της τη δύναμη και την πίστη.
Σας καλώ να σταθείτε στο πλευρό τους, να είστε το στήριγμά τους μετά τον Ύψιστο Αλλάχ. Πεθαίνω αταλάντευτος στις αρχές μου. Μαρτυρώ ενώπιον του Αλλάχ ότι είμαι ικανοποιημένος με την απόφασή Του, βέβαιος για τη συνάντησή μας και σίγουρος ότι αυτό που βρίσκεται κοντά στον Αλλάχ είναι καλύτερο και αιώνιο.
Ω Αλλάχ, δέξου με ανάμεσα στους μάρτυρες, συγχώρεσε τις προηγούμενες και μελλοντικές μου αμαρτίες και μετέτρεψε το αίμα μου σε φως που θα φωτίσει τον δρόμο της ελευθερίας για τον λαό και την οικογένειά μου. Συγχωρήστε με για τα λάθη μου και προσευχηθείτε για μένα με έλεος, διότι κράτησα την υπόσχεσή μου και ποτέ δεν την άλλαξα ή την πρόδωσα.
Μην ξεχάσετε τη Γάζα… Και μην με ξεχάσετε στις ειλικρινείς προσευχές σας για συγχώρεση και αποδοχή”.
