Πάνω από 20.000 πολίτες απομακρύνθηκαν από το κέντρο της Κολωνίας, στη δυτική Γερμανία, καθώς ανακαλύφθηκαν στην περιοχή τρεις βόμβες από την εποχή του Β’ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου, οι οποίες δεν είχαν εκραγεί.
Οι βόμβες ανακαλύφθηκαν κατά τη διάρκεια εργασιών του Δήμου και πρόκειται για βόμβες αμερικανικής κατασκευής. Οι δύο έχουν βάρος 1.000 κιλών και η τρίτη 500 κιλά.
Η υπηρεσία πυροτεχνουργών του Ντίσελντορφ έχει αναλάβει την εξουδετέρωσή τους.
Εκτός από τους κατοίκους, η εντολή εκκένωσης αφορά επίσης ένα νοσοκομείο, δύο οίκους ευγηρίας, έναν σταθμό, πολλές επιχειρήσεις και πολλά εστιατόρια και ξενοδοχεία, καθώς και εννέα σχολεία και νηπιαγωγεία, ανέφερε σε ανακοίνωση του ο δήμος της Κολωνίας.

More than 20,000 people have been evacuated from the centre of Cologne, western Germany, after three unexploded World War II bombs were discovered in the city centre.
The bombs were discovered during work by the city council and are American-made. Two weigh 1,000 kilograms and the third 500 kilograms.
The Düsseldorf bomb disposal service has been tasked with defuse- ing them. In addition to residents, the evacuation order also affects a hospital, two retirement homes, a station, many businesses and many restaurants and hotels, as well as nine schools and kindergartens, the city of Cologne said in a statement.
