Police in the eastern German city of Gera are searching for a man, who doused a woman with flammable liquid and then set her on fire. The incident occurred inside a tram, in front of shocked passengers.on Sunday.
The 46-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, a police spokeswoman said. The motive for the crime is still unclear.
Police are investigating an attempted murder, the spokeswoman said. “ The suspect managed to escape and has not yet been clearly identified.”
According to the police no other people inside the tram were injured.

Η αστυνομία στην πόλη Gera της ανατολικής Γερμανίας αναζητά έναν άνδρα, ο οποίος περιέλουσε μια γυναίκα με εύφλεκτο υγρό και στη συνέχεια της έβαλε φωτιά. Το περιστατικό σημειώθηκε μέσα σε τραμ, μπροστά σε σοκαρισμένους επιβάτες.την Κυριακή (16/03).
Η 46χρονη γυναίκα μεταφέρθηκε στο νοσοκομείο με τραύματα που απειλούν τη ζωή της, δήλωσε εκπρόσωπος της αστυνομίας. Το κίνητρο του εγκλήματος είναι ακόμη ασαφές.
Η αστυνομία διερευνά μια απόπειρα δολοφονίας, είπε η εκπρόσωπος. «Ο ύποπτος κατάφερε να διαφύγει και δεν έχει ακόμη αναγνωριστεί με σαφήνεια».Σύμφωνα με την αστυνομία δεν τραυματίστηκαν άλλα άτομα μέσα στο τραμ.
