A Situation Room meeting in the White House to discuss the Israel-Iran conflict has now started, according to a senior White House official.
Earlier President Trump stated from the Oval Office that he had not yet made a final decision regarding action against the nuclear facility in Fordow. He said Israel is doing well in its attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Trump expressed his belief that Iran was close to developing a nuclear weapon before the attacks began.
“There could still be a deal. I haven’t closed the door on meeting with Iran…I like to make the final decision a second before the time, because things change, especially with war. Things change with war. It can go from one extreme to the other.”
Asked what he would say to Americans who don’t want the US to get involved in another war abroad, Trump said: “I don’t want to get involved either, but I’ve been saying for 20 years, maybe longer, that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. I’ve been saying it for a long time, and I think they were a few weeks away from getting one,” he said.
