At least 15 people have been killed and dozens were injured when a white truck stormed into a crowd of New Year’s celebrations on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.

The driver has been identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42 year old US citizen from the state of Texas. He died in a shootout with police.
Authorities are trying to find the motive behind the attack and whether Jabbar acted alone or not, since a black ISIS flag was attached on the car. As for the car, it was rented from Turo company.

Shamsud-Deen Jabbar,served in the U.S. Army as a human resources and information technology specialist from March 2007 to January 2015, according to an Army spokesman. During that time, he was deployed to Afghanistan from February 2009 to January 2010. He then served in the Army Reserve as an information technology specialist from January 2015 to July 2020. He held his rank at the end of his tour of duty, the spokesman said.
