Χιλιάδες πιστοί είναι ακόμη στην ουρά, κάτω από τον ήλιο, για να προσκυνήσουν το σκήνωμα του εκλιπόντα ποντίφικα. Η Βασιλική θα κλείσει στις 7 το βράδυ και θα μπορεί κανείς να μπει στην ουρά το πολύ μέχρι τις 6. Μέχρι το μεσημέρι είχαν προσκυνήσει το σκήνωμα του Αγίου Πατέρα των Καθολικών πάνω από 150.000 προσκυνητές.
Στις οκτώ το βράδυ πρόκειται να κλείσει το φέρετρο του «πάπα των φτωχών». Όπως έγινε γνωστό, η τελετή θα πραγματοποιηθεί χωρίς την παρουσία φωτογράφων και εικονοληπτών, διότι πρόκειται για μια ιδιωτική στιγμή.

According to a decision by the Holy See, the entrance to St. Peter’s Square is to be closed at 5 pm, local time. Thousands of faithful are still queuing, under the sun, to pay homage to the late pontiff’s remains. The Basilica will close at 7 pm and one will be able to join the queue until 6 pm at the latest. By noon, more than 150,000 pilgrims had paid homage to the remains of the Holy Father of Catholics.
