More than 4.5 million people in Northern Ireland and Scotland have received a red alert warn on their phones, over storm “Eowyn”.
Meteorologists in Ireland and the United Kingdom are issuing Red Warnings ahead of Storm Eowyn moving in from the Atlantic bringing the threat of Category 4 hurricane force winds with maximum wind gusts exceeding 140km/h.
The red warnings for Friday covered all of Northern Ireland and parts of central and southern Scotland, including Edinburgh, Glasgow and Ayr.
