Two Democrat lawmakers in Minnesota, Democratic Senator John Hoffman and Rep Melissa Hortman, were just shot in their homes by a gunman impersonating a police officer.
According to local media, DFL Speaker Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park, DFL Sen. John Hoffman in Champlin were shot multiple times by unknown person. Unconfirmed reports indicate that their spouses have also been shot.
Their health condition is so far unknown.
A shelter-in-place alert was sent out at 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning by the Brooklyn Park Police Department after multiple shootings. A suspect in the shooting may be impersonating law enforcement and should not be approached.

According to an official press conference on the tragic incident, it was confirmed that Hoffman’s are currently in surgery. Their health condition remains difficult.
Gov. Tim Walz said Democratic Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed last night in “a politically motivated assassination.
The investigation is in full swing and the FBI is also involved. At 2 am there was a call that Senator Hoffman was shot, at 03:35 there was a new call about the incident. There was an exchange of gunfire with the perpetrator but he managed to escape.
“We must resist any form of political violence. A dark day for democracy and Minnesota”, said the officials.
“If you see anything suspicious, call 911. Do not open ypur door to an individual officer”.

Δύο Δημοκρατικοί νομοθέτες στη Μινεσότα, ο Δημοκρατικός γερουσιαστής Τζον Χόφμαν και η βουλευτής Μελίσα Χόρτμαν, μόλις πυροβολήθηκαν στα σπίτια τους από έναν ένοπλο που παρίστανε τον αστυνομικό.

Σύμφωνα με επίσημη συνέντευξη Τύπου για το τραγικό περιστατικό, επιβεβαιώθηκε ότι οι Χόφμαν βρίσκονται αυτή τη στιγμή στο χειρουργείο. Η κατάσταση της υγείας τους παραμένει δύσκολη.
Ο Κυβερνήτης Τιμ Γουόλζ δήλωσε ότι η Δημοκρατική Βουλευτής Μελίσα Χόρτμαν και ο σύζυγός της πυροβολήθηκαν και σκοτώθηκαν χθες το βράδυ σε «μια δολοφονία με πολιτικά κίνητρα».
Η έρευνα βρίσκεται σε πλήρη εξέλιξη και εμπλέκεται και το FBI. Στις 2 π.μ. υπήρξε μια κλήση ότι ο γερουσιαστής Χόφμαν πυροβολήθηκε, στις 03:35 υπήρξε μια νέα κλήση για νέο περιστατικό. Υπήρξε ανταλλαγή πυροβολισμών με τον δράστη, αλλά κατάφερε να δραπετεύσει.
