The ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is official over after Netanyahu’s office announced that Israel resumes fighting because Hamas refused to release the hostages & rejected all proposals presented by the USA & other mediators.
“Israel will henceforth act decisively against Hamas with increased military force,” according to a statement from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office, which clarified that the operational plan was presented to the government over the weekend and has its approval.
Last night Israeli jets bombed Hamas targets, killing more than 400 Palestinians people.
Among the dead, is General Mahmoud Abu Watfa, head of the Interior Ministry of the Hamas government in the Gaza Strip, who was killed during Israeli shelling that swept through the enclave overnight, sources in the Palestinian Islamist movement in Gaza told AFP.
Hamas in its statement called on the UN Security Council to convene urgently and force Israel to “cease the offensive” and withdraw its troops from the entire Gaza Strip.
“Hamas could have released hostages to extend the ceasefire, but instead chose denial and war,” White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes told the Times of Israel.

Η κατάπαυση του πυρός μεταξύ Ισραήλ και Χαμάς σταμάτησε επίσημα αφού το γραφείο του Νετανιάχου ανακοίνωσε ότι το Ισραήλ συνεχίζει τις μάχες επειδή η Χαμάς αρνήθηκε να απελευθερώσει τους ομήρους και απέρριψε όλες τις προτάσεις που υπέβαλαν οι ΗΠΑ και άλλοι μεσολαβητές.
«Το Ισραήλ θα ενεργεί στο εξής αποφασιστικά κατά της Χαμάς με αυξημένη στρατιωτική δύναμη», σύμφωνα με δήλωση του γραφείου του πρωθυπουργού Νετανιάχου, η οποία διευκρινίζει ότι το επιχειρησιακό σχέδιο παρουσιάστηκε στην κυβέρνηση το Σαββατοκύριακο και έχει την έγκρισή της.
Χθες το βράδυ ισραηλινά αεροσκάφη βομβάρδισαν στόχους της Χαμάς, σκοτώνοντας περισσότερους από 400 Παλαιστίνιους.
Μεταξύ των νεκρών είναι ο στρατηγός Μαχμούντ Αμπού Γουάτφα, επικεφαλής του υπουργείου Εσωτερικών της κυβέρνησης της Χαμάς στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας, ο οποίος σκοτώθηκε κατά τη διάρκεια ισραηλινών βομβαρδισμών που σάρωσαν τον θύλακα τη νύχτα, δήλωσαν στο Γαλλικό Πρακτορείο πηγές του παλαιστινιακού ισλαμικού κινήματος στη Γάζα.
Η Χαμάς σε ανακοίνωσή της κάλεσε το Συμβούλιο Ασφαλείας του ΟΗΕ να συγκληθεί επειγόντως και να αναγκάσει το Ισραήλ να «παύσει την επίθεση» και να αποσύρει τα στρατεύματά του από ολόκληρη τη Λωρίδα της Γάζας.
«Η Χαμάς θα μπορούσε να είχε απελευθερώσει ομήρους για να παρατείνει την εκεχειρία, αλλά αντ’ αυτού επέλεξε την άρνηση και τον πόλεμο», δήλωσε ο εκπρόσωπος του Συμβουλίου Εθνικής Ασφαλείας του Λευκού Οίκου Μπράιαν Χιουζ στους Times of Israel.
