Nineteen days separate us from Christmas and the Christmas atmosphere in the city of Thessaloniki seems ready for the happiest holiday of the year. And Thesnewsline.com is here to bring you the most beautiful and brightest Christmas images from the city center.
This time our little journey began from Egnatia Street and the square where the statue of Venizelos stands proudly. On this huge pedestrian street, festive preparations have already begun.

Houses that in a few days will offer delicious delicacies to visitors, carousels, trees decorated with lights and Santa Claus’s workshop will open its doors for all the visitors and locals of Thessaloniki.

Leaving the under construction Christmas village behind, we headed towards Venizelou Street to admire the new Metro station. But for that, we will come back with a detailed article.

A few meters below the Metro station of Venizeloy we discovered a fairy-tale arcade.

The arcade is part of the Ermeion Mansion, one of the oldest buildings in Thessaloniki. A mythical carriage, perhaps Cinderella’s, decorated with lights and huge flowers welcomes any visitor who likes fairy tales.

While going a few steps further in this “secret” arcade, a small magical garden on a wooden table is waiting to help a prince or a princess to break any spell.

Heading to Ermou street and just a few meters away from Modiano Market, we enjoyed the Christmas images in the window of a store, which catches the eyes of those walking in the area. By looking the next photographs you will understand why.

Modiano Market
One of the most characteristic landmarks of Thessaloniki, the closed and renovated Modano Market could not fail to bring a Christmas atmosphere to its visitors.

Aristotelous
At the end of November, in one of the first Thesnewsline.com’s Christmas quests, we had search the center of Thessaloniki for the magical atmosphere of Christmas. And of course we had managed to capture the christmas spirit downtown first, despite the fact that it was only the 18th of November.
But now the “counter” shows full speed.

Before Aristotelous Square, on the pedestrian street between Tsimiski str and Mitropoleos str, all these pictures bring to the visitor a joyful mood. Stars, deers, small and large decorated Christmas trees tie the atmosphere that the Christmas tradition exudes.

What a wonderful thing to see smiles on people’s faces…

Aristotelous Square
After a storm with gale-force winds last weekend, the official Christmas tree lighting ceremony at Aristotelous Square took place on Wednesday (04/12).
In the heart of the Thessaloniki now stands a 18-meter-tall fir tree, which came from Taxiarchis Halkidiki, decorated with thousands of white lights. At the top of the tree is the star that illuminated the path of the three wise men, while at the base of the tree is the manger of the newborn Jesus Christ.

Around the perimeter of the square are huge bright gift boxes with a kitten, a dog, a snowman, etc on top. Also, one of the most impressive decorations is the horse-drawn carriage, where visitors can climb on and have a memorabilia photo.

The bright carriage attracks both small children and “older childern”.

Agias Sofia’s pedestrian area
A huge blue veil of lights decorates the entire pedestrian area of Agia Sophia, creating a truly unique atmosphere.
A beautiful night blue sky…

Another large Christmas tree has been placed downtown, on the pedestrian street right next to the Longos Mansion, better known as the Red House.

Street light decoration
Did you really think we would forget to capture the decoration of the streets in the center of Thessaloniki?

Until our next Christmas quest, be happy, be safe cause here comes Christmas…(and Santa Claus as the song says!).
