A EA-18G Growler Navy’s Jet crashed in San Diego bay, on Wednesday during an attempted landing at Naval Air Station North Island.
The pilot and co-pilot ejected before the airplane crash into the water and they were transported to a local hospital for medical assessment.
According to Navy officials, the cause of the crash is under investigation. Security boats were on the scene along with environmental and safety teams set on minimizing the effects of the crash. There were no reports of civilian injuries or any damage.
LA Times reported that the U.S. Coast Guard told at KGTV that the aviators were in the water for only a minute before they were able to board a fishing boat. The two crew members were then transferred to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection boat and eventually taken to Hillcrest Medical Center at UC San Diego Health, where they were reported as stable.

Ένα αμερικανικό αεροσκάφος EA-18G Growler του Πολεμικού Ναυτικού συνετρίβη στον κόλπο του Σαν Ντιέγκο, την Τετάρτη κατά τη διάρκεια προσπάθειας προσγείωσης στον Ναυτικό Αεροπορικό Σταθμό Naval North Island
Ο πιλότος και ο συγκυβερνήτης εκτινάχτηκαν πριν το αεροπλάνο συντριβεί στο νερό και μεταφέρθηκαν σε τοπικό νοσοκομείο για ιατρική αξιολόγηση.
Σύμφωνα με αξιωματούχους του Πολεμικού Ναυτικού, τα αίτια της συντριβής διερευνώνται. Σκάφη ασφαλείας βρίσκονταν στο σημείο μαζί με περιβαλλοντικές ομάδες και ομάδες ασφαλείας για να ελαχιστοποιήσουν τις επιπτώσεις της συντριβής. Δεν υπήρξαν αναφορές για τραυματισμούς αμάχων ή ζημιές.
Οι LA Times ανέφεραν ότι η ακτοφυλακή των ΗΠΑ είπε στο KGTV ότι οι αεροπόροι βρίσκονταν στο νερό μόνο για ένα λεπτό πριν μπορέσουν να επιβιβαστούν σε ένα αλιευτικό σκάφος. Στη συνέχεια, τα δύο μέλη του πληρώματος μεταφέρθηκαν σε σκάφος του Τελωνείου και Προστασίας των Συνόρων των ΗΠΑ και στη συνέχεια μεταφέρθηκαν στο Ιατρικό Κέντρο Hillcrest στο UC San Diego Health.
