As “It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas” quest in Thessaloniki continues, it would have been an oversight not to look for a Christmas atmosphere in one of the most central spots of Thessaloniki.
Saturday afternoon and the sidewalks in the center of Thessaloniki are full of people, who are enjoying their walk in Tsimiski street and Aristotelous Square.
Groups of teenagers, families with children, elderly people, locals and tourists, defying tonight’s cold air of Vardaris, bring life downtown.

Walking on the pavement of Tsimiski street and having pass Aristotelous, the hanging lights outside the entrance of another mall, Notos, gave a feeling that perhaps there were more to see.

And entering the arcade, the hunch was right! The Notos Mall is almost ready for Christmas time.

Of course, the temptation to see what was hidden behind the “curtains” was big. Actually was too big, to handle it…So we took a small peek!

Leaving behind the mall, followed a short walk on Tsimiski and Aristotelous, looking at the shop windows, many of which are “wearing” their holiday “clothes”.

Although the famous Aristotelous square; has not yet wore its Christmas veil, alongside there are many ”café”, bars and restaurants that have already followed the pre – Christmas spirit.

Little Santa’s hats, bright lights, garlands and big red ballons that look like christmas tree ornaments, give to Aristotelous Square an Xmas essence.

Of course like every year, Aristotelous square will be decorated with a huge Xmas tree, a traditional Christmas crib ext. So, here comes the good news: The clock is ticking anticlockwise for the Christmas decoration at the heart of Thessaloniki. According to the official announcement by the Municipality of Thessaloniki the preparation will begin over the next days and the lighting of this year’s Christmas tree will take place on the 30rd of November.
Until then, let’s enjoy another christmas song…
